CANADA.....EH

We made it into Kalispell, Montana but not without seeing some beautiful scenery along the way.

Even though we had called the boat dealer the day before to alert him to our arrival, we still had to wait for them to get a crane to their business to unload the one lone boat we were dropping off. As I will soon learn, what was a one hour wait turned into almost 6 hours of waiting for the crane to show up. Thank goodness I had a book to read! Here is a picture of the truck loaded with the boats in Kalispell.

What I have failed to mention yet, is that to get to Kalispell, and yes it is on my list of places to possibly live, you have to go through Glacier National Park. Oh my, if you ever get the chance it is the most beautiful drive you will ever experience. I'll post a couple more pictures below.

We stayed overnight at a rest stop within Glacier National Park and awoke early in order to cross into Canada. This allowed us to view a spectacular sunrise!

The particular portal crossing we were routed to was only open from 7am to 11pm. We arrived an hour early and had to wait for the gates to open. Now, for being in law enforcement as long as I have you would think it would be a piece of cake talking to border patrol officers. But when they are in full BDUs with bullet proof vests on the outside of their uniforms and look at you as if you are on the top ten terrorist list you start to get a little intimidated. After a careful screening of our passports and a few questions we were headed on our way. Check out this picture of what I call Checkpoint Charlie.

The delivery of the last of our boats went right as planned. In fact Craig commented it was the fastest and smoothest unloading he had yet to experience. With the quick unload we were able to relax at a truck stop in Calgary in which I was able to get a postcard off. Yes, Denise it should be on the way to you shortly!

After getting up the next morning, Saturday, we were off on the Trans Canadian Highway through nothing but prairies and more prairies. Have I mentioned we saw our share of prairies? I think a quarter of the world could move to Canada and they will still have more than enough room for a crop or too.

Today, Sunday, we safely made it into the USA again, with another screening of our passports and the same questions as before. I might as well get used to it since it seems we are probably one of a handful of drivers that have passports to go into Canada, hence the reason we are headed to Montreal come Tuesday morning. We are currently staying at the Flying J in Fargo, North Dakota, picking up some boats in Minnesota, coming back to the Flying J and swapping trailers with another driver who has the Genie which needs to get to Montreal, and they need to get back to Spokane, so they are taking our load of boats that needs to go to Kent, Washington.

Today was shower and laundry day so we are feeling quite clean and refreshed for our upcoming road trip to Montreal. We are thinking of taking a couple of days off in Montreal to check out the sights. I'll update you in a couple of days!
