WALMART SHOPPING

I forgot to mention in yesterday's entry about a place we stopped in Minot, North Dakota for lunch. It was at a truck stop, and with it being Sunday and all, we thought it would be very few people there. Boy, were we wrong. When we walked through the store to get to the restaurant, there was a very long line which kept getting longer. This place seemed to be the Mecca for everyone in town to go for Sunday dinner after church. Now get this, the name was Schatz restaurant. Now we surmised that somewhere back when, Craig's family had to be related, and the spelling just changed over the years. We'll have to let Craig's Dad tell us if we are right. By the way, the food was excellent and we certainly understood why everyone in town went there!

This morning we were off to Pipestone, Minnesota, to a Bayliner manufacturer to pick up some boats and trailers. As is the case lately, we sat and waited a bit to get loaded. Again, my books are coming in handy to pass the time. Pictures are of the yard at the manufacturer and proof that I am, in fact, still using my brain from time to time in retirement.

After getting the boats loaded, we headed back to Fargo to exchange trailers with the other driver, but first we had a stop to make. Yep, you guessed it, every truckers dream store, WALMART. We fit right in going up and down the aisles getting some odds and ends, but mostly some food to stock our cupboards. Craig did a fine job of finding the perfect parking space way out in the boondocks as to not be in the way of the other shoppers. We were happy to use our gift card that my ex-co workers so graciously gave me upon my retirement. Quite a few bags later and we were loaded down and off to the truck stop.

We had enough time to do one more load of laundry to get us completely caught up, and along the way were a captive audience for a truck driver and his wife. We find that most truck drivers do not lack in their social skills and wanting to talk your ear off for much longer than you would want them to. I have to say, even though Craig and I are not yet as social as the drivers we have met, ( and don't know if we ever will be ) but all of them have been very nice and very helpful in answering our questions about trucking and especially about how to correctly fill out the daily log sheet.

One of the most enjoyable things so far as been sitting high up in my passenger seat and watching the trucks coming and going in the truck stops. It is a never ending cycle and seeing the different trucks and the items they haul has been very entertaining, not to mention watching some of then back up!

We will be headed towards Montreal, Canada in the morning and without internet access until most likely Wednesday night. I'll try to get an update of our latest adventures then.
