ENJOYING OUR DAY OFF

We are currently on a 34 hour reset of Craig's driving hours, so staying here at the Flying J has allowed us some down time. We slept in this morning and had a leisurely breakfast before heading back to the truck to put our bicycles together.

We took off and headed towards the train station to see first, how far it was and secondly, what times it took off. You can see Craig looking at the train schedule, all in French or course, and trying to figure out what days and times it ran. We still couldn't figure it out so I will try to do some researching on the internet for something in English, or we will have to do the unthinkable, ask someone!

We then took off on a little jaunt around the town of Vaudreail-Dorion, Quebec. It was a nice day, although a bit overcast and humid. It was much larger of a town than we expected. About 15 minutes into our ride we heard the church bells ringing. At first I thought it was signaling the time, but as we got closer I saw a slew of photographers on the steps of the church and figured it must be a wedding. We stopped, after all, who can resist not looking as the new bride and groom emerged from the church. Then all the guests starting filing out and surrounding the newly betrothed. Seems it must be tradition for everyone who attends the wedding to be in a group wedding picture.

Along side this church was a very old cemetery. Both Craig and I have always been fascinated with them and couldn't resist the urge to stop and take a look.

We ventured further down the road and found ourselves peddling along Lac St-Louis. It was quite beautiful, check out the picture,

and relaxing as you can tell from the way Craig is sprawled on the park bench.

We made it back to the truck stop after about 3 hours, knowing now that when we return we will be able to get a train ride into Montreal to check out the sights there. A trip into the laundry and a salad for dinner and we were thinking we would probably take off in a few hours and drive about 250 miles tonight to miss any traffic going through Toronto. We're headed to Maryland by way of Niagara Falls. Don't know if we will be able to catch a glimpse of them or not, but you know I will sure try. My next update will be from back in the United States, hopefully Monday or Tuesday when I will be able to post all the pictures. Until then Au revoir from Montreal, Quebec.

I am envious of the work you are having to do! But, I cannot think of two better people to do it.

Enjoy!!!
