Well, here I am officially in my co pilot seat along side Craig and loving every minute of it. The flight to Minnesota was uneventful, thankful that I was flying first class. Trying to communicate with a non-English speaking taxi driver was another experience. After writing down where I needed to go, Hudson, Wisconsin, and hearing him speak to his dispatcher, I wasn't quite sure I would get to where I needed to be. But, about 30 minutes later and some pointing to exits he should take, I arrived at the TA truck stop and waited for Craig to arrive 20 minutes later.
We delivered the windshields to Little Falls, and decided to spend the night in their parking lot and wait for our next assignment. The sky was getting overcast, but we decided to walk about a mile into town and grab a bite to eat. We had gotten no further than 200 yards when the thunder and lighting started and then big fat rain drops. Craig was the gentleman and offered me his baseball cap and off we walked in the rain to a local pizza restaurant. We thought the thunderstorm would pass us by while we enjoyed our meal, but much to our dismay it was still there for our walk back.
Safely back in the truck, and a bit moist, we sat and watched the lighting around us. The thunder grew louder and then CRACK, lighting hit an electrical pole no more than 100 feet from us. We both jumped a bit out of our seats as we watched the electrical jolt charge through the wires and then that part of the city went dark. Let's just say we were glad we had rubber under us while in the truck.
We received our next assignment and it was to stay right there in Little Falls and load up with 5 boats in the morning. We will be headed to Kalispell, Montana and then to Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
I must say the ride through Minnesota was very beautiful. There is not a bit of litter to be seen on the highways and the residents there keep their homes and farms extremely clean and organized. Here is a picture of us on the road in Minnesota.
We stopped in Fargo, North Dakota, for a shower break and catch up on paperwork and of course for me to update the blog. We are headed for Dickenson, North Dakota tonight, or at least that's the plan as of now according to Craig. We really do enjoy it out here on the road and will be looking forward to telling more of our adventures.
